I like that idea. Might make me one just cause I can. I'll probably get a free jack from the scrap yard

For load development I use a Rock Jnr as a front rest and rear bag for under the butt. I am shooting off a concrete bench when doing this and it gives me the most stable position available when load developing for my rifles. Removing as much human error as possible is important here, as I am testing the rifle/reload for accuracy, not myself.
All other shooting i.e. sighting in, drop chart validation, practice, is done prone on a shooting mat with my Harris and a rear bag.
Hunting is not a hobby.....its an addiction
Or just use a pillow case half full of sand front and back
I use one of these cheapy plastic things. Ok for testing loads. Not so good on the shoulder if you use factory 45-70s.
@Toby Change the bottom pivots to bolts as my picture to take out the 'slop' in the pivot. 50x25x3 RHS gives it a bit of weight in the base.
made this one at work which works very well but I tend to shoot over a pack or single front bag
but seriously bag and a sand sock works well cheap and effective as i learnt from ryan cleckner on you tube has some epic information in his videos

I use to shoot off a front and rear bag I found when I switched to a bipod and rear bag I started getting vertical strings
if the shooter has no trigger control or proper breathing technique the group will be crap no matter what he or she uses that being said
this is my set up it works for me

Shooting of a rest set up is very good for learning sight picture and trigger control. It'll improve your general shooting quite a bit.
That scissor jack idea is real neat! I'm going to copy it if you don't mind. I have an extra jack lying around somewhere.
