After chasing dead ends with my mates Remington 270 that definitely has something wrong with it (he has now bought a Tikka 7mm RM, woohoo) I had the joy of loading for a Tikka again this weekend. I have been at my mate Jacob for ages to get his 7mm RM chopped down, promising that I will do a load for him once its done.
Over the last couple of months he has been busy getting components together and last week the rifle came back from being tricked out. He wanted to run with the 160 TMK as something a little different so working off the Rel 23 and 162 ELD-X combo I know works so well in this configuration we gave it a go. Suffice to say it shot like any Tikka with three of the five groups going very well. Interestingly, the TMK seemed to run a touch slower then the ELD-X with this combo as its doing 2900fps whilst others in the same length are doing 2950 - 3000 with the ELD-X. None the less we were stoked as that's ample for all hunting situations. Load development done and dusted in under 20 rounds, perfect!
