    Tikka 7mm08 150 ELDX Lands

    Gidday,

Anyone happened to measure maximum COAL to lands in Tikka 7mm08 with 150 ELDX.

I know all rifles are different. Just want to see if I’m in ball park. Have got a M+ mag. Loading for a mate and worked out roughly with cleaning rod to bolt face then cleaning rod to projectile placed in lands. Was around 2.912 bearing in mind the packing I put in end of cleaning rod to fill hollow compressed around projectile tip ever so slightly.

I think M+ go right out to 2.900 COAL

    Cheers

I have measured it but I'm not home for another week.
I had to seat to mag length M as the lands were a lot further out.

Does it really matter, pick a COAL that will chamber and start from there using that as a reference point.
When I used 150gn eldx in my model 7 708 I found it really didn't mind a bit of jump, in fact I found that to be the case with eldx in a couple calibers.

Check this video for easy way to measure lands distance using loctite and a fired case, works a charm

Hi McNotty, I had a T3X, assuming they are similar. below is my measurement:
    150gr eld-x OAL=2.979
    Also, 154 SST=2.949; 168 SST = 3.006; 162 ELDM=3.003; 139SST=2.959. I have changed the gun to 284 so can't verify now. hope they are in the ballpark
