    Tikka t3 270 WSM Velocities??

Hi guys, I'm considering buying A Tikka t3 in 270 WSM. I will be reloading for it and plan on shooting 130-140grain projectiles. My question to people that have this rifle and reload for it is what velocities are you getting with this rifle with 130-140grain projectiles? Are they low, high or just book velocities? The reason I ask is I've read on a few forums that Tikka rifles tent to have long throats and therefore the reloader struggles to get book velocities or velocities that other rifles easily obtain in the same calibre??
It would be a big bummer to buy this calibre and only obtain standard 270win velocities!!
    Any help would be appreciated.

A mate had a 270wsm for a while but has gone back to 270win ,the wsm wasn't a effective cartridge. Perhaps too fast & not allowing the projectiles to mushroom .Often exiting without delivering enough shock /knock down .That was on Sika which aren't a big deer .
I saw what it did to a couple of animals & wasn't impressed. Was factory ballistic tips he was using too.
I have a t3 in 270win but using factory ammo but only so I can blame Winchester when I stuff up n miss .
Gun control means using both hands

That's fair honking. Mate has a T3 in said calibre and with the speeds he's getting it's not worth it.

Thanks Grunta, do you know what projectiles he's shooting? And more specific on the velocity if possible?

I think this is more a case of using the right projectile for the job than a reflection on the cartridge.

Cheers silentscope, have you tried any 140grainers with the Tikka? And has load development been a haste to obtain those velocities?

    Tikka t3 270 WSM Velocities??

    I get 3150 with 150's in my T3.
Kills stuff dead and shoots .5 MOA out to 1000m.
    Can't complain with that!

A7 Sako doing 3100 with 2213 and VLD's, and an easy 3400 with 110TTSX's, also with 2213 could get more with either load, but both shoot half moa all day, so no need, the 270 WSM does seem to be unfussy to load for, and Tikka's always seem to shoot no matter the calibre. Prefer the slick action the standard .270 gives though.
