Yeah that might work I would work up from about 12.0 grains I got good accuracy there but went to custard at 15.0 grains
or 2207 could be a contender.

Got them shooting ok I guess..just need to work out how much expansion I’m getting now..

Might try some fast loads soon to see how they go,accurate at subsonic that’s for sure.might start at 35g 2206h and work up from there.

expansion........fill up 5-6 times 3ltr milk bottles with water and line them all up the projectile SHOULD stop somewhere along the way.... its not perfect but will give a fair indication as to what they will do in flesh.

something like that....if you want to get all fancy place them in a framework so they cant jump out.

Trail boss should be good in the short barrel as its a fast burning powder developed for pistols.
Any idea what velocity you were getting with 9 gr.
8gr in my 243 had a 105 gr vld about 1050 fps.
Did a number on goats. Tumbled the full length of the animal but no expansion as you would expect.
I have not gone back there as I was a little concerned about ignition on such a small charge less than 60% case full.

No idea on velocity,under speed of sound tho .will work up till I hear sonic crack,thinking 10g trail boss might still be just under sound barrier.

Went with a starting load of 30g 2206h with the 170g cast,nice 1in group @ 50m so gonna go with that for now,low recoil and not as loud as the Barnes load I usually use.just need to bowl an animal now to see how they perform.if 25g is running around 1800fps what do you think 30g of 2206h speed will be?i shot them with the 9g trail boss load into dirt @ 50m and there was very little expansion,almost could have been loaded again!

I have a mate that has bad Arthritis i load him the 135gn smk with min book charge of 2208 id have to check but 48gn from memory

You might get even better performance by taking all the casting marks off the bottom of you projectiles.
