I’m thinking that a full case(14g) of trail boss won’t get the speed I need for decent expansion, the 9.5g load didn’t expand at all.

    Greetings @The bomb,
Just spotted this thread. I chronographed .308 loads with the 155 grain Frontier projectile and 32 grains of AR2206H at 1,900 fps in a 22 inch barrel. With two grains less powder and 6 inches less barrel you would be lucky to make 1,700 fps which would be below the velocity you would need for reliable expansion with that projectile. I also chronographed the 150 grain Hornady spire point and 38 grains of AR2206H which gave 2,350 fps or about 2,200 plus in your barrel. This would likely work but the recoil may still be a bit much for your boy. A lighter or softer projectile as suggested elsewhere in this thread could be a better option. Hodgdon suggests a 125 grain BT projectile and 38 grains of H4895 (AR2206H) for about 2,400 fps in your rifle in their youth loads section.
    Regards Grandpamac.

Have settled on 110g Barnes for him, light recoil and suppressed he doesn’t mind it to much.seems to kill like a .243 at bush ranges.

Next option is I will go with a bullet ment for 30-30 and use it in the .308 with 35-40g of 2206h.
