Hi Guys ,
what are you guys using powder wise ?
Cheers Chris
41.5 gr of 2209 with the old 140amaxs getting about 2720 outta my rpr
Hmmm 2209 was accurate but slow in both my 6.5 creedmoors.
Pressure at 42gr and only 2650-2700 ish
Ive recently purchased a 6.5CM, it has a 20" barrel, a previous owner says he run 140's at 2800 fps with N550.
I dont have any N550 to try yet, have only run H414 and got 130 VLD's up to 2855 fps with 44.5g, backed down to 43.5gr for better accuracy in mine.
Keen to try the N550 if i can find any.
My goto load in 6.5 Creedmoor is a 140 gn Berger VLD HUnting over 42.5 of AR2209, gets around 2750 from a 22" barrel, very very accurate in my Ruger PR.
My impression of are you guys shortning the barrel of your RPR?
My acknowledged is they are 24" on the 6.5CM
Just received this bulletin from Sierra. Might be of interest 6.5 Creedmoor Load Development
Of course it is all about using Sierra TMKs but the powder choices are mostly available locally.
Thanks Guys ,
Now I just need to find my bullets
Couple photos just to tease and i will update the velocities and loads as soon i finish my "paperwork".
By the way, this group is from a Hornady 140gr ELD-M "FACTORY"!
Squares are 1".
Following up with my last post…
Please, be advised that the load information in the following photos may produce different results in your rifle, they can be "too mild" or "too hot" and whatever you may try to copy follow the basic safety procedures.
If you are shooting a Ruger Precision Rifle and wouldn't mine to share your experiences with it please feel free to drop me a PM or just reply to this thread, much appreciated.

Cheers for that. 41.5 and 42 are looking pretty good.
Weather permitting I'll run some more tests with 143 ELDX and 7828ssc in the morning from my savage lightweight hunter.

The squares on these targets are 1cm for precise adjustments with scopes in Millrad, i honestly thought i could get a "special" node in between the 41.5 and 42gr but as you can see it was not there.
The latest post about powder choices on the Precision Rifle Blog a good friend and expert shooter of Cal Zant did a great test with the most popular powders used in this caliber and how temperature sensitive they are, it is a great reading.
I was expecting to get a bit more velocity from these powder charges… somewhere in the 2750-2800ft/s.
Cheers.
