Had a couple of mates come around last night for a reloading session. Both have 6.5x55. One rifles on a new load AR2209 and 143gr ELD-X, will here how he gets on tonight after a day at the range. My other mate I’m helping him setup a second hand press, gear, etc and dies but all he’s missing a shell holder so it a next time job now until I’ve got some free time.

What projectiles are the yellow tip 223?

    They look pretty cool

Took the new batch of 73g to test yesterday. These bullets just perform. 4 shots at 100m.

Loaded up some load development 6.5 CM rounds yesterday .
    My chosen load is

    Hornady Brass
    CCI 200 Primers
    ADI 2209
    Hornady 129gn SST projectiles ( oal 72mm / 2.835 in )

41.5 gn of h2209 produces 16mm average groups at 100m . I found that combination very quickly when doing my initial testing so didn’t really do much more experimenting .
In that initial test my max charge was 42.3gn ( no pressure signs) which although good wasn’t as accurate as the 41.5gn .
With that in mind I thought that I’d try to bump up the charge to 42.7gn and see if the groups tighten up again .
So I’ve loaded 9 rounds ( 3 x 3 shot groups / sporter barrel that heats up quickly) of 42.7gn and will test them side by side with the 41.5gn loads to give them a fair comparison ( same day / environmentals etc )

Just formed 3 cases and loaded 1 dummy round in 45-60 to check the theory on a current project

Proof of concept to see if forming 45-60 and cutting the chamber with my 45-70 reamer was going to work

Have you tried AR2208? it goes faster for me than 2209 with the 140g (with less powder).

Nah, I havnt, I have noted its the more go-to powder for the calibre, I just had the 2209 on hand when I started, I'm pretty happy with the load for now, but will give the 2208 a run at some stage. Seems to be doing the damage for now.

Silly question, but does anyone here also just make a side batch of sinkers for fishing from time to time when casting?
just wondering if a std BHN 13 hardness mix of lead is ok for the sinkers or is it too soft?

Is this with a top end load capable rifle? I'm already a bit shy to load my marlin SBL45-70 past 46gns of anything peppy so i'd only waste any extra case capacity i feel.

Just ran 100 once fired Hornady 22 Hornet brass through the Summit decap and FL resizing. It seemed to be taking longer than I expected, so at the end I did a count...278! No wonder there are no live rounds in the ute, they're all on my bench! Next stage...

Just a note on the Summit. It operated seamlessly, nothing stuck, nothing queer happened, but I did change back to the long handle for two reasons. First my knuckle kept hitting the block with the short handle. The weight of the long handle aids in dropping the die downwards, and the extra leverage on the up stroke pulls the plug through more easily. Next modification will be to add another 50mm or 75mm block on top of the first block, so that my spine is straighter and I'm less stooped!

Sunday loaded up 30 of my go to load for the 284, 150nbt 2209 @ 2850fps.

With the nbt being hard to get I've been playing with 150eldx with 2209 and rl17. Ladder tests of 2209 got sticky bolt at 2800 fps but rl17 wow just shy of 3000 fps with no pressure signs. Sweet spot seems to be around 2930 so have loaded up few around the this to try.

Also loaded a ladder of 162 eldm and rl17 so be interesting to see how that goes.
