Was mucking around, finding a sub load for my 308 Handi Rifle.. found something it liked! Target was at 50m, and the impact point just happened to be right at 3 dots down on the Mildot reticle... 6.0gn of AS50n with Black Widow 165gn RNFP bullets...

Bit of a Grey day in Blenheim today. Pretty sore from yesterday's football match. Played a hard game. Beer and reloading time. 75 rounds of 165g TGK 43g 2206H. Yet to sight rifle and chrony load. Probably next week, although I am itching to get out for a hunt. It may be delayed.

got charges up to 44gr, will be cautiously watching for pressure signs as i run through them. Lots of threads on here with people stating its the magic powder/projectile combo so hopes are high for a great result.

Got rained off the rabbiting on Tuesday night so drove home to Wellington and got stuck into some reloading. It was stilling gale force and pissing down this morning so carried on. Finished with about 150 Hornet cartridges and 50 triple two. I'm happy with that because the tide had gone wright out! Back on the Golf Course next Monday (New Moon 🌚 on Sunday) for some long range snipping with the triple two during daylight hours (daylight scope), Hornet with thermal for long range night shoot and a couple of 22LR,one scoped, one thermal. I think I've got my ducks in a row!

Hornet, three different types of projectile all in front of 9.8grn ADI AR2205:
    - HORNADY #2233 HORNET 45Grn SP BC .212 (from memory)
    - Sierra #1210 Hornet 45grn SP BC .191 (?)
    - Some thing I couldn't identify, but might be Speer 45grn SP

222 Load 18.6grn ADI AR 2207 with HORNADY #2266 55grn SP BT CANN. At 18.5grn this has proven to be a laser beam accurate load taking rabbits out to 240m, deer at 75 - 90, and goats, but not much over 100 - 120m.

Shot 32 rabbits tonight in horizontal rain with 22LR Winchester 40grn HV Weihrauch equipped with thermal. Wierrd night, one minute it's howling and pissing, next minute it's still and clear, I saw one of the meteors coming in, then back to howling, pissing and pitch BLACK! The poor old rabbits never heard, smelt or saw me coming! They didn't stand a chance!

Powder dispenser went well, not much in the way of overthrowing charges.

Hey @TLB Whats the BC of those hollow point? And the BC of the other projectile? Are the hollow points as accurate as a SP or ballistic tip in the same caliber & weight at 100 - 200m? I would imagine wound damage would be off the scale?

The BC of the hollow points is utterly terrible at a whopping .234. What they lack in BC they make up in price ($40 odd per 100), accuracy (amazing best I have found in .243, flat base likely helps) and terminal performance. Just turns rabbits inside out.
BC of the 95gr is a very respectable .45

    This evening loaded another 50 X 222 Rem 55grn Hornady #2266 SP with 18.5GRN ADI AR2207.
Then FL resized and de-primed 200 plus 22 Hornet case. Some need to be trimmed, so don't.. [

Ran out of Hornet last night, so just ran another 66 X Sierra 40grn #1200 SP with 9.8grn ADI AR2205
These are the lightest projectile I've loaded so far, so I'm expecting and increase in velocity and probably an increase in terminal destruction. I'm heading out to a cattery tonight to check the velocity on the Rabbitonagragh!
Tricky place to hunt. Lots of scrubby gullies where they hide, come out to graze, but are skittish and never more than two hops from the scrub. What they don't know is, with the thermal in can still see them in the scrub. LOL Such Fun!

The test load box contains 6 of each batch I've loaded. There are 13 different powder/load/projectile combinations so far. 5 for a target group (because 3 shot groups are useless!) plus one for the milk bottle test! I LOVE milk bottle tests, but without the American sound track!

PS Thanks Richard Wilhelm for the projectiles. The 1210 were very good as this photo shows

I hardly use this thing, probably the 5th time in just under 2 years. 44g of 2208 for the 150 gold dot. It does make loading 45 rounds a bit faster that's for sure.

Not loading yet, just finished annealing 100 rem mag cases...this is the second batch of 50.
Lots more prep to come, sizing, trimming, chamfer, tumbling, priming, charging then finally seating.
