If your going to build a desk, can rig up some car jacks they use for 4x4 so you can adjust the height as needed ? Then chuck a block of wood under it once you got the right height ?

Grouchy Smurf had it right all along...
Height of your pelvis minus 100mm, then you could really use it as a "work bench"

308Win One chambering to rule them all.
What ever height and width you arrive at Normie one thing you will need to make sure of and that is build it "Rock Soild".
Bolt the bench to the floor and the wall.
Make sure theres no movement of the Press when it's under pressure what so ever, no flexing ............. Nothing!
Your press will love you for this and it will allow you to get a very good feel for whats going on at each stage of the reloading process.
Cheers

Thanks Pete. My current bench was a rush job and uses heavy timber but wobbles like mad. Hence the reason for a mark II, so I plan on making this one a beast.
Cam. Your idea has merit too.

At least 50mm timber for the press.
I was thinking of using 12mm ply for the top but under the press putting some 100x100 to bolt the press too. Had a bit of a measure up and it seems my initial thought were way off. I think a metre might suffice.

Good to see its still standing,I must get back and visit but things have been nuts so far this year
Tom
Ply does crush a little more when the press is clamped down IMHO but there are ways around that (depending on the press design some are not flat on the underside)..... If the press is bolted to the frame and the ply has a layer off steel under the press if it is a hollowed cast type (I have some 2.5mm that will do to spread the lad)
Fishing ... Hunting its all good
Steel plate sounds like a good idea as it'll only be needed for the press? I like the idea of ply better than MDF although will probably need to coat both with some poly urethane. Got my new press last week so same as your press.

Normie
I'm currently rebuilding a bench for my Two Lee Loadmaster Progressive Presses.
I've mounted them on 300x300x25mm steel plates with 6mm cap screws and welded these plates to a welded 50x50 RHS steel frame.
This will then be dyna bolted to the concrete floor.
I bet it doesn't move more than a few thou under pressure.
I'll post some pics once I get back home.
Cheers
Pete
Sounds good, thanks Pete. That'll be a pretty beefy bench.

Bunnings has a pretty solid looking steel framed bench for $499, has 2 cabinets up top, if I had the space I think I'd buy one, though I'd throw a cheap kitchen top ($139) onto it as well.
Watching them in case they drop in price, I'll make space then....somehow, somewhere.
