    .243 vs hares/rabbis

I've noticed a bit of talk lately of the .243 in a varmint capacity, tone was asking about it here, a few others sugesting it also. So...

In the interests of practical accuracy and riflemanship (is that a word?) I took my deer gun out on some hares off my front deck the other evening. It's not exactly a varmint projectile, But I can vouch for the 100gr corelokt in that it will knock over our local armour-plated hares out to 230m (measured with the mile marker haha) Didn't post the pics of the rabbis as there wasn't much left of them.
So heres the results of my amateurish venture into varminting:

I can still see them and what they are, unlike what a 22-243 does to themName: IMG_0156.jpg

Fair call, but bear in mind this is with my kimber bush gun and the trusty 'flying bricks' the 100gr corelokts. made more of a mess than my .223 with HPs does incidentally!

Alot of the mess depends on were and how they are shot, I find the most spectacular are shot from behind, putting a bullet up the spine. This splits them in half quite nicely.

Yes would have to agree. A mate of mine calls that the UN-ZIPPER

Well, you Aussies don't call it the 'pope gun' for no reason right?

Obviously his holiness uses it on rabbis too

As for the unzipped comment, the one with the dogs face it it was close. I feel if it was hit more square on it would have travelled down the spine and I would have two clean halves.
