80% of our Endemic birds threatened

Native birds in 'desperate situation' with 80 per cent threatened - commissioner | Stuff.co.nz

How ridiculous, surely we should be collecting some revenue at the boarder to help support our endemic species.
Ive been working in the tourist industry for years and reckon they get it pretty cheap.
$20 @ the boarder wont stop them coming and you do the math.....1 million+ visitors !!!

They (this government) have just put the hut fees up on all NZ's great walks. But that way WE pay ??

Why, why, why....it just seems so wrong to me !?

After the latest lot of 1080 that will be up to 90% in no time .

Without the 1080 we wouldn't have any already, many times over.
Apparently the only reason we have kaka still flying around is that not so long (80 years) ago we had flocks of 2000+. We're just at the tail end of an exponential decrease.
