The other week I bought a box of HMR for $50(silly move but is what it is)
    Same week a 50 box of .223 for $40…(albeit on special…)

The above is a one off case.

HMR is $37 last couple packets I bought.
    The 223 is $50-$55 range.

If you buy right the difference can be negligible…

We're pricing 223 at present for 4 of us and bulk buy it will cost $40 for every 50. Belmont 55gr softnose are $800 for 1000 delivered. Shared purchase a big saving - but yes keen to get back to 22 and 22 costs.

Belmont used to make a 55 gr frangible for small game control. Two years ago I got a can $400 per 1000, it made the option of buying a 17 redundant. I have no idea if they still do it though.

Team are revisiting the same block near Tekapo end of this month. Looking forward to that - new-to-me Howa 223 is a very precise shooter and keen to give it a blast.

Have always liked Tekapo, south Canterbury area - very different from our stamping grounds in north Cantab. Canterbury a hell of a big province - bigger than some european countries - and with very diverse land character.

As mentioned above .. any reason to head down that way is a good reason.
