found lots of spots, but with late winter, most farmers are still caving or seeding, so found it hard to find someone home to ask.
Shot a few fields around Provost Alberta, and Strathmore Alberta, couldn't believe how many in sum places, crawling with them, farms hate them due to the holes causing damage to equipment, vehicles and stock.
took .22 semi, new Volquarson .22 mag and the cooper 20 Vartarg, mostly shot the .22 mag, just wandered around the fields and shot free hand, conditions were quite windy, 26deg,
seen plenty of mule deer, pronghorn antelope, and bird life on my travels,
245 gophers on sunday, 48 the day before, and a snow shoe hare.

Are you allowed to shoot deer anytime of year or is there a season?

Hell yes, no shortage of targets and plenty of trigger time.

A lot of fun I bet.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded

Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Not sure what rifle your talking about,
the laminated rifle is a Volquartsen .22 mag, with Nikon scope.
the scoped rifle with Barrel vents is a cooper Montana varminter, in 20 Vartarg,
the iron sighted is a browning SA-22,
I put up pictures, of hits with the vartarg, but its literary just bits of gopher,

Somebody asked about Deer, they are only open for hunting for two months, and depending on the managemt Zone may be draw only, so very limited big game hunting compared to NZ.

I had to look up the 20 vartag. I don't get out much anymore so to speak and while I've heard of the 204 and would consider buying one, never heard of it.
Its a pretty cranky (fast etc.) little cartridge.
No wonder you don't put up happy snaps of the dead'uns.
You'd be a member of the red mist club with that one wouldn't you?

Small targets....are they quick and flighty or dumb and slow?

VC, they kinda both, small and very quick when on the move, but they hunker down, close to there hole, and you can shot at one or near buy, and they stay put, sometimes you can shoot at the same one, and miss and get a second or third shot, they often duck back underground, and come back up a few minutes latter, not as flighty as rabbits.
