    Cooper Varmint Extreme 17AH

A couple of photos of my Cooper Varmint Extreme in 17 Ackley Hornet. It has an exibition grade Claro walnut stock. Shoots a 20 grn v-max at 3750 ft sec. Not everybodies cup of tea, but i must admit, it is my favourite rifle.

Hey Gemini - No I brought this Cooper off Trademe. Dead Eye Dicks was claiming to be an importer once so you could try them if interested, or see 'Similar Threads' at the bottom of this page - 'Cooper Rifle Group Buy' from The Claw. Not sure whether that is going ahead or not.

Yeah Sneeze - i have been waiting a while for that trip! Be nice for the two Coopers to finally meet each other . Do you think the old 'Honeymoon man' will be allowed to come along or will his Mrs put the screws on him?

Some of you sub calibre users might know someone who needs a set of RCBS dies for 17-222 mag.

I have had them sitting on my shelf since I reloaded 222 mag 30 years ago.

Dont take them just to sit on your own shelf I would like to see these used.

This is 3 die set..Why, I dont know. I know I used parts of this set to load a lot of 222 mag when they became difficult to get..

The stem appears slightly bent, the decapping pin is missing and the little neck opening dofalackey is missing.

    Free to a good home..

Nesika nice to see the 17AH, it does have some awesome wood. Did Bryce import that himself? I seem to recall Bryce saying he did......The M38 is a nice petite action I have a Cooper Jackson Varminter in 17 HeBee which is the 218 Bee case necked down and blown out, you can get 4100fps out of the HeBee.

    The 17 Bees, L-R 218 Bee case, 17 Ackley Bee 30deg shoulder, 17 A&M Bee 33deg shoulder, 17 Killer Bee 40deg shoulder, 17 HeBee 30deg shoulder.

    The 17AH and 17 HH

JLP - it's a Hardy moderator. Works well!

Kiwishooter - Now that's a lovely Cooper you have there! Yes the 38's sure are sweet little actions alright. How much powder does your Bee hold to get that velocity? Reloader Supplies brought the Cooper in for Bryce.

Yeah, obviously it only goes out in good weather and nothing rough...not the sort of rifle you would drag around South Westland That's the great thing about varminting i guess...

Nesika 15.3gr of N120 gets me 4100fps with a 20gr Vmax. The Bee case is a bit stronger than the Hornet.........I ended up bringing in the Coopers I own, I looked for a reasonably priced M38 for a few years before I found the HeBee, managed to pick up a M22, a 57M in 22WMR and a few M21's along the way.........Kiwi
