the people who kicked up a fuss about cats dying are hypocrites. They use emotive words, sign language (Shame, Insult, Guilt and the Need to be right) to get their way yet say nothing about our priceless native birds. Conservation in NZ and Aus means that pests have to die.

Really shows where their priorities lie.

    Normal people ???
Shoot anything they see.?? It's a species specific compition.
Nah let's stick the kids on grand theft auto. Let them fantasise about shooting people and commiting crime. Then punish the gun owners when they decide to get an illegal gun and live out thier game fantasy
Teaching children responcable use of guns and learning the reality of cause and effect are wrong? Harmful in some way?

I've always found they are just a pain to shoot in cage. If the wires arnt in way, the cat rarely sits still when a barrel goes close to it.
By the time ya get a shot it would be drowned. Walk past trough drop it in goes strait to bottom. Inhales water just about strait away stops moving in way less time than it spends freaking out at you going to get a rifle trying to get bead on it. In my experiance any way.

The stupid thing about being predator free (I'm not against it) is that yes cat aren't included and also hedgehogs!

Hedgehogs kill and eat any living thing in their path and leave no trace. I've seen hedgehogs in Doc traps at 1300m altitude not far from where I know a bunch of Falcons nest.

I work with a brother of one of the organisers, the word is they have canned it but here is the crunch for This year. They are loving all the attention reckon the comp will have the biggest field of entries ever. News crews were in Rotherham today a tiny village.

Any idea of why they canned it Happy Jack? It came up on my Farcebook feed, and I commented cos I think its a bloody good thing for a whole lot of reasons, dead cats is only a small part of those reasons. I was at the point I was gonna enter myself and some of the grandkids, simply to give Rotheram School some more funds. And to flick the bird at all the anti's out there. Had no intention of actually going cos Im a bit busy at present.

From what I have heard it was pressure.Fish and Game were interviewed on the local radio this morning and they came out in favour of the idea.

Gower is a twat but I agree with him in this matter. Feral cats need to die. As to NZ ever being predator free, pffftttt ha ha ha ha not going to happen.

As Gower stated, all feral cats need to be eradicated. I would go further and say all cats found a reasonable distance from housing areas need eradicating. When doing any of my weekly circuits hunting goats, cats are certainly on the hit list. Local DOC attitude seems to be shoot them but don’t advertise the fact. Even local residents seem to have the same attitude, even ones that own cats. Acquaintance who used to do pest monitoring in hills bordering Blenheim reckons domestic cats used to feature prominently in traps. Was told by council not to advertise the fact. The little shits certainly roam a fair distance.

There is a vast difference between expressing an opion and and forcing your opion in such a way it affects a group of people who are trying to find a way to solve an issue that is having a negative effect on a local environment.

My best cat shooting effort was near Te Kyoto in the ‘80’s.

Running cat about 75 yards away going right to left met 180 grain projectile from the 30-06 I was using, cat turned into a rag doll and cartwheeled into a pile of logs.

The only disappointment was there was no witnesses..

Fart, I'm allowed fart but not Far,k , ah there bypassed the system. Saw a bit where a kid fell into the gorilla's enclosure, did hope it was you know whose. Ah sorry we talking cats, did you know that depart of con anilihated millions of birds and all thru feeding the public bullshit. How many black robins are still alive being spoon fed for seventy yrs etc. Cats do a wonderful job in our society. Loneliness is a sign of a sick society. I have been where you are and one day you will be where I am.
