    Pestgard Traps?

    G'day,

Has anyone out there used the Pestgard traps?

    https://www.maintracgroup.com/produc...leg-hold-traps

Price seems reasonable but interested to hear from anyone who's used them, or if people have other recommendations.

    Cheers.

    Yep I have used them.

They are no bushmaster but they do work. Nice and light but do require tuning first up.

For the price it doesn't take many catch's to make them pay for themselves

Yep, as kukuwai said. Need adjustment before you put them to work or you will be disappointed with sprung/escapes.
Adjust the plate nut so there is no side to side movement, should go straight up and down. Not to firm.
File end of dog smooth to eliminate machined edge, or will be to trippy.
Trap plate should activate whether set heavy or light with out catching spring levers... Are Ok traps just need tinkering with first.

More expensive types will/should be ready to go straight out of the box.

Yes they work but $10+gst seems expensive thou

There was a seller at TM called twign (Lisa) from Closed
Not sure if they still have them but soft jaw traps were $1.20 each if you buy 100+ qty

Some odd trap needs a little tweaking at the initial setup

Usually, I put 4 traps around the tree trunk
please makesure you check the traps daily and count/mark where you set them.
hate to see those animals starve to death.

I have caught hedgehogs, possums, rats and mice with it.

I ran possum trap lines many years ago and I have tried a few cheapies and that is what they were, cheapies, they got sold off pretty quickly. I would buy quality traps everytime.
