Pet fooding possums, hares and rabbits

Thanks for all your advice on the last post. I have another question.
My son who’s almost 8 has taken up trapping on farm. 2 nights and 10 possums down from 10 traps. He’s collected the fur but seems a waste chucking the bodies.
I looked into pest pro but wanted to know if anyone has processed and sold pet food themselves. I looked on MPI and there wasn’t a whole lot of clear info. All I could see was needing to do a RMP. What exactly does this entail?
As mentioned in the last post we have tonnes of small game and it would be good to utilise the whole animal as much as possible.

If you want to sell animals for pet food I would approach a couple of pet food processors and find out if they buy wild game. If yes they will have all the MPI templates and guide you through registration

As far as I’m aware they only buy large quantities and through the likes of pest pro however if I’m wrong that would be best

Everyone starts somewhere, so the processor may take a young fella under their wing with an eye to him being fulltime in a few years

if you have poison free trapped possum bodies, feed them to your own dogs,no better tucker but DO NOT feed the house dog/pet. the smell of possum farting dogs is fowl.
the local pighunter/pighunters pighunting club will be able to put you in touch with some one who will possibly be happy to supply "pocket money supliment" in exchange for the poison free bodies.

If anyone interested rabbits business, not for pet food since too many people are doing it, and have land access to large quantities in SI, we may can talk about it to build some extra earnings.

Talk to Zach at Pest Pro. They're currently in katikati but factory is moving to Wahi( might already be there). He'll see you right.

RMP stands for Risk Management Plan and that would pertain to the processor. Essentially to supply now you need to be an MPI approved supplier, sit a test ect. Need poison decelerations ect at the point of supply.
