Need some size reference, if it ain't a mouse then probably
Rodent for sure and yes it could be rat. Too small for Capybara or Beaver.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

I would be putting some mouse traps up there I think.
GUN CONTROL IS A TIGHT 5-SHOT GROUP.
Looks like Mr Ratty. Bit hard to judge size from photo though.
On a brighter note, if you have rats you generally don't have mice and vicky vica.
Having either of them in my ceiling space worries the shit out of me.
I generally get mice in the colder periods.
Worked my butt off sealing up ways they could be getting in.
Gets some traps up there straight away.
I use traps and poison. Clears them out until next season.
Rats have a loader gnaw than mice. More likely to keep you awake at night along with wife nudging you awake to draw your attention to the noise.
Its that time of year for them to be heading indoors. Using rat bait you need to nail or tie them down, so they can't start hoarding them for winter supplies.
Forgot to mention, same deal with rat traps, tie them to something.

We got some rat traps (more sorta stations that they needed to enter) supplied at one stage by the local council.
The method with them was to bait them over a few nights without setting them to trap to get the rats used to them, and then finally set them.
Cunning bastards, the rats.
I put a mouse trap up there straight away, its all I have, looks a bit bigger than mouse pop I've seen in the past and I have no idea how long its been there, I only went up to check for water leaks in a heavy downpour we had just had cause we have water coming through the hole that the ranch slider deadbolt goes into at the top. Found poop instead of water.
The mouse trap I have is the type that they can get into but cant get out of.
Don't use the poison that looks like blue urinal cakes! It's good but designed to be taken back to the nest. All good when the nests outside but not so good when their nesting inside you ceiling or under your cabinets. Gets a bit stinky.
Isn't there a mouse/rat poison that only takes affect after water is consumed, thereby they die outside the house?
