Thread: using rear guns bags in the field ?

spare pair of socks...... polarfleece hat with gloves and crawford neck warmer inside it..... lined my bro in law up on chammy last year and had just taken off my boots so used my sweaty socks for rear rest LOL sure did the trick as he bagged two with one shot.

this is what i have been using . . . . stuff bag filled with straw

what i am after is a real improvement . . . keeping in mind this is not bigger game animals shooting where inside a 10 inch circle is good enough, its little critters so think 2.5 inch circle at maximum, and further deal . . . any tiny improvement might get a hit way out there.



thinking that maybe a bag with the ears type maybe worth a try . . ya see them at the range, but are they of any use in the field ?

With the new RCD virus taking hold a 'distraction' might be welcome for those long waits between rabbits.

MAYBE......... try a nice big soft front rest and ditch the bipod completely....hold the forend and try a group and see what happens...what have you got to loose??? 1/4 hour of time and half dozen rounds....

Howa 1500 in 6.5x55. Use it for everything, but set up for tops / mountains in the Sth Island

cheers @Micky Duck . . . using that already when using my No.1 Ruger, ( it doesnt like bipod pressure on the forend ) i like the difference of that method but all n all its not something i like to do all the time
i also feel there is more potential for accuracy / precision at LR with a bipod in the field, so the idea of rabbit eared rear bag, could be wrong . . . but this is what i do, keep looking for improvements, sometimes you get nowhere , sometimes you get a win . . . its all part of it.

I use the THLR professional bought from precision shooter in NZ. Goes good. Like gibo I use a cabinet and have it hook to my belt next to knife a bum bag. Slightly less small but works well enough for me.
