    The look you've captured on that cat's face is fucking priceless! Would be a great picture for a 'caption this'....

    Man I wish my Golden could do that, but she is a town dog and according to my wife, "A companion dog for me while you go hunting! NOT a hunting do so you!"

    Was practicing shooting my 75m gong out the back door with my .22 and suddenly realized this thing was standing behind the gong! Embarrassingly took two shots to kill it, 2nd shot was a head shot tho

    6 wee pesties, bit bigger than my normal possums,
    I'm finding night vision to be a pretty handy tool, hopefully will get more tonight, turned quite a bit of our pasture into dirt/mud.

    Got more last night, they were a fair bit more skittish this time around, think I'll wait another night or two before going out again as I only managed to get 3 before they all bolted, counted 25 before I started shooting and that was only between 7 and 8 pm so fair to say there is a bit of an infestation

    Hey @Brad S be a little careful about posting photos of dead NATIVE birds! Shooting a native is a criminal act, but ACT probably won't be able to help you. My understanding is, and I'm sure to be corrected on this, Spur Winged Plovers are a self introduced Australian terrorist. Because it is self introduced, it has gain the NZ status of NATIVE and is therefore protected. That's not to say that they are not a fricken pest (not officially designated), breed in huge numbers and dislodge our prizes native species. I hate the little fucks! They have ruined many a keen hunters stealthy approach. Have I every shot one myself.......nah! Off course not! Would I shoot a native???? Well wood eye?

    Huh. I see, I didn't think they were protected these days? I did a quick google before posting the photo

    Spur-winged plovers, like black-backed gulls, have no legal protection. (Protected status for the plovers removed 2010)

    @Hugh Shields
    Only a 223, 62gr projectiles with 24.5gr of 2206H
    I'm feeling a little under gunned but they still drop on the spot, the first 6 I got were around 50M away and they didn't seem to care that I was picking them off one by one, the ones last night were around 80-100m, I was a little surprised that they all ran away so quickly, being that I was further out than normal, maybe they winded me, was fairly still both nights though.

    the hornady 62gr SP turn piglets inside out so I'm thinking that they fully expand within the larger pigs as none of them have exit holes, seems to be working though.

    @StrikerNZ and @Brad S Well bugger me I got that wrong. As you correctly pointed out, both Black Backed Gulls and Spur-Winged Plovers had their protection lifted in 2010. Thank you gentlemen for the clarification.
