because we make our own shotgun ammunition here in Washdyke/Timaru...the falcon store is there and sells ammunition worldwide.... and its good stuff too.

Everything has gone up over here ,powder, primers, bullets ,but the biggest worry is the forthcoming lead ban on everything, airguns .22 centrefire rifles the price for non lead bullets /rounds is around three times the price of lead . Fine if you sell what you shoot but for recreational shooters makes for an expensive hobby,
Then there’s some calibres that don’t stabilise it, some calibres that just won’t get made.

Big issue with the USA versus the old Geelong Winchester 22rf is not just cost and availabilty, but the quality of the USA product is not up to the Oz product.

well my bad....... not much different to any other ammunition bulk seller anywhere in the word then..... most ammunition makers use other makers projectiles /power/primers in some loads

if you cant get 4-5 loadings from a cheddite case...as used in falcon..you are doing something drastically wrong

Nup, it was Guthrie Bowron. From a Joe Bloggs perspective, it's worth shopping around. My main account is with ITM but I shop around for certain line items as the price differential can be substantial. As for placeys ripping off Joe Blogs to subsidise tradies........don't make me laugh, a few years ago I priced a job for a potential client, he went to placeys with a materials list and they gave him (no trade account, no nothing) a better price than me (long term trade account holder spending decent amounts monthly)...I closed my trade account with them the same week (note:this was a long time ago now but even so, it was a bullshit move on their part)

arms/ammo resellers may be a different situation, my comment was more aimed at the general approach of business's in NZ which seems to be "Fleece the f#ck out of everyone you can, that new boat won't pay for itself" and yes, a bit tongue in cheek but the margins are outrageous on a lot of goods.

My Bro used to work at a tool retailer. They would sell big ticket items (nail guns etc) below cost because people shopped around for them, but when it came to smaller items (single spanners, sockets) there was up to 1000% markup

I have worked for vendors, distributors and retailers in IT (computer space). I used the hear the big margins argument all the time, it's bollocks. NZ distees and retailers often only make a dribble of margin if they meet their vendor targets and get their rebates. Some vendors are absolute c***s and let the retailers/distees take all the heat... Apple would be a great example.

With a trade account I can get timber and hardware half price from one of the big shops. Pretty sad how much I spent at retail prices prior.

I thought this was a fair price for one hundred rounds.

Hope it goes OK. It was a bit erratic when I tried it. Some made a good crack. Others not so much.
    Wasn't super accurate either.
This k its made by winchester.
    Might go OK for you
