Same thing happened last year, DOC drew it straight away as soon as it closed, guess that means I missed out.
Shut up, get out & start pushing!

I want answers. So I sent an email to DOC, please explain.

    Hi

Can you confirm for me please, Has the Ballot for 2018 been drawn already??
I note the ballot application page says it's to be drawn on the 11th of October.
However I have received notification from a fellow hunter, who also applied for a Haast Roar Ballot, has received confirmation of his successful ballot drawn.

I look forward to a reply.

    Hi Paul,

The Online Applications for the Haast Roar Ballot 2018 closed at 4.00pm on Monday 2nd October.
Due to processing changes to our online system this year, we decided to hold the draw Wednesday 6th so we could start processing and allocating the blocks sooner as the new system appears to take a bit longer to enter the block drawn to the successful party.
As you can understand with over 490 applications received and a short timeframe between notifying successful applicants and the date confirmations close – we felt we needed to do this. At this point in time we are still processing the successful applications and all applicants will be notified of the ballot outcome by Wednesday 18th October.

I hope this answers your questions.
    Thank you and kind regards,

    Michele

Thanks for this. Sets my mind at rest.

I've got no problem with DOC or this process. They have got a bugger of a job and seem get slammed no matter what they do.

    Hey man,
It’s my first year I’ve been allowed the time to hunt during the Roar, no idea about what’s good but I’ve drawn the same block as you but the 4th week.. now the blocks sounding like a waste of time and money haha, I should have done better research first.

It’s the first time we have applied for the ballot as well mate. We didn’t do much research but we knew there’s trophy genetics in the area. Just hoping to catch a mature stag floating around

Hold all tickets! Might still be in with a chance?

490 applicants, nearly $20k for the Haast DOC shop, not a bad wee earner for them.

If anyone shot a stag of note in the Jerry it is either extremely lost or on its way somewhere else.
Lots of animals in there but not flash head wise
