The 70 grain Speer will stabilize in a 14" twist, and they are a fantastic bullet for deer. I shot the biggest red of my life with one, and would still be using them if I hadn't got interested in looooong range.

As a bonus, they shot to the same poi as the 55 vmax I used for varminting.

What sort of speed were you running them at, any advice on powder to use. I’ve got a tikka which is 14 twist and picked up some of those speeds a while ago. Cheers

I'm surprised they stabilize I ran them through the green hill formula and came up with them needing a 12 inch twist above 2800 fps and 9 inch below that. I've previously had experience with a 68 grain bt hp that chronied 2950 and produced tight groups at 100 yds but wouldn't get on an a4 sheet at 200 turned out it was marginally stable at launch speed but needed a 1:7 twist below 2800 fps. Rifle was a savage 1:9 223.

That's just about perfect instability if you want tumble on impact lol.
