That era of the culler out for xmas or the end of the season is well captured in Lew Sutherlands book particularly in the beginning. Neville Toohill's book "Spotlighting"has a chapter that spells the end of the ground meat hunter. Sorta like working at the freezing works during the boom years. Money in your pocket and the beer was always icey cold.

I carried the thing (boned out legs and bk stks) 45 minutes up a zigzag track. Brian met me half way and took my rifle. Offered to take my pack but I said if he did then I wouldn't be able to say I carried it all the way

thats a new twist on the old "timber hitch"...shear brilliance.
I think you should organise to head down and demo it for the ol boys...might be just the ticket...or complete failure in that area. love the concept.

    It works exceedingly well

A deer 100-750 metres lower than a vehicle is bought to the vehicle very quickly with little effort

    Then carry on hunting

You could easily do the same with a snatch block as long a you have enough track to drive along, or just use a bar mounted winch and multiple resets. Done it heaps works a treat.

Does it come with an additional someone to run that 700m down the hill to hook it on and back again?
If not I'll stick to shooting animals on the high side of the track.

I just got a text from my 19 year old Grandson after sending him these bragging pics (he works for a pest contractor); "a bit too high and forward Grandad". Ouch. How the worm has turned, huh.
