Every machine is a smoke machine,
If you use it wrong enough.
You say one off chassis, so did you make the chassis or someone else?

Does anyone have any experience with Sako ammo in .223? I’ve acquired a CZ527 in .223 and tried Hornady American Whitetail 60gr interlocks, Federal Fusion 62gr SP and Winchester 64gr SP.
None of the above group particularly well. Circa 1.5” at 100m. The rifle, while second hand, has had very few rounds through it.
I have it on good authority at the twist rate of the barrel is 1:9 although it’s possible it’s 1:12.
Any suggestions on ammo options to try?
I’m not in a position to reload for it at the moment unfortunately.
Cheers,
Andrew

You can measure your twist rate with a cleaning rod. Recommend you determine that before doing anything else.
May also be worth looking at the bedding between stock and action. Mine needed tidying up and screws needed to be properly torqued otherwise it was pretty hopeless.
Then worry about ammo. Honestly, 1.5" with soft points is not alarmingly bad by itself.

And do try some 55grn stuff. It sort of eliminating other possible issues.
75/15/10 black powder matters
Good grief I butchered that post with my grammar.
The rifle has been bedded, however I note that the barrel does come in close contact with the stock although not quite touching.
I will have a look at the action screw lengths.
I was hoping to use something heavier than 55grn for deer however I might have to settle for it.
Cheers for the help!
