My daughter's second deer. 80m headshot under pressure with the 75gr eld-m, not much head left this time. Also showing off her new pikau from @nzspearo.

That's awesome @Roarless20 , impressive shooting by your daughter and it's great that the pikau is already getting used!

I have a question about the 75 gr ELD-M for you. Are the 75's that you're shooting factory ammo or handloads? I'm getting a 1:8 Howa 223 next week and am looking for 70+ grain factory ammo options (as I don't handload yet) for deer.

It seems easy to find 50-ish grain ammo which will be good for wallaby etc, but it'd be nice to have something heavier for deer since the 1:8 should handle it.

    Cheers!

They’re pretty much the ‘go to’ factory ammo for a 1-8 twist in NZ. There are other good options overseas but we don’t get them here

I'm not sure I'm understanding the assignment here in terms of demonstrating projectile performance. 140m, 69 gr targex. But it's confidence inspiringly accurate.

73 eldm the hind at 230M thought it was a gut shot but the angle she was on it pushed it through into the lungs stone dead 20M away.
The spiker was only 20M shot

Deleted previous post as didn't load correctly, edit didn't work so try again.
I've been trialing 73 gr ELDM's on Deer, Pigs, Goats for a while now with good success at reasonable ranges. 2 goats for 3 shots at 602 & 620 metres the longest. Casual target testing has shown reasonable accuracy so decided to do a range shoot yesterday at Kaituna Range, 300,500 and 600 yard ranges. light swirling breeze
@ 300 range. Fish-tailing wind from behind at 5 and 6 hundred range with left to right cross-wind at about 350 yards. HOWA 1500 .223, 16" suppressed, GPO scope. Shot using cheap Bi-pod and no support bags/rests. I have detached Vitreous Humour beside Optic Nerve in master/shooting eye so reasonably happy with results. The ELDM's kill well and shoot well but I'll continue using 55GR SP's for most of my hunting, they are good enough most of the time.

Go and stand by Trout. You two can shoot!
