    And ANOTHER afternoon walk

Went to a friend farm for a stroll and came across this young "fella", 7mm Rem Mag, 162r Amax at 2800ft/s at a range of no more than 70mts. fell on the spot, no exit wound but i count find the bullet or fragments inside, only a 4-5" diameter hole.

    Cheers.

Gee Mac that's a pretty slow 7mm, what load are you using?

Plenty of deer around at the moment, everyone must have full freezers!

Hey Craig, i use 69.5 of ADI2217, i know it is "slow" but it is also accurate in my rifle. I really don't push it too hard as it is my tack driver rifle, i hunt everything from any distance pretty much.

    Cheers.

Maybe because it was still too fast and only really expand on the shoulder blade bones.

I would say 162 gn proj doing 2800 is about perfect for normal hunting range surely? Maybe That's why we are seeing the impressive lack of meat damage. There is such a thing as too fast I reckon. There is an ideal speed on impact. Muzzle velocity merely determines the range at which that speed will obtain.

Put this way, yes it is slow but accurate and deadly in between 5-500 meters... No meat demage because it was head shot.

    Thank you for the comments.
