Only been hunting for about 3 years. Have spent a bit of time in the Ruahines as its my local. More often than i would care i have been left wet, Knackered and with nothing to show for my effort. I am only just starting to find some good hang out places for deer. I am not sure what point i am trying to make, but i think it is get out and do the hard yards yourself. Its part of the fun.
There's a rouge goat floating round the area, probably be moving fast wHen the ring goes on it this weekend!
Boom, cough,cough,cough
Talking about rogue goats, the are some goats in the bush right next to the frigging SH2 in Welly, they are driving me nuts ! No way on earth you will get away with shooting them, they are going to make me take up bow hunting

I am related to some of them farmers from down that way my grandmother was bought up in dannevirke on a dairy farm which I had an opportunity to see when I went there for a family reunion many years back, heck even the old water wheel that used to run the cowshed was still intact.
And out of all honesty to the OP no use asking for private land to hunt on here as not many people will allow that privilege and not alot of farmers from other areas allow it either due to past betrayals of trust from previous hunters and problems with those who think they can do what they like and tresspass on properties to shoot wild game animals so I do not really blame them. better off going onto the DOC site and filling out a permit for Kaimanawas, Ruahines or any DOC land that you are allowed to hunt and go there and enjoy your hunting trip.

RULE 4: IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET BEYOND ALL DOUBT
To be a Human is to be an Alien, ask the animals, We invade this world and we are killing it, we are destroying the earth and nobody gives a fuck except for the animals
.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
