A few stags going off in Hope Valley Lewis Pass. Mainly way down in the valley bottoms. Lots of hinds around not being harassed so early days yet.

It all sounds pretty normal to me for the Ruahines, went for a look in a local spot in the southern ruahines yesterday and no roars heard but sounds like they are roaring in other catchments.

Yesterday morning was a lot of noise in the north eastern ruahines. Went for a walk further south today and didn’t hear a thing

3 days ago hunters on the Arawhata told us they were all pissed up but not roaring yet. Yesterday morning was brisk and clear, so that may help things along. But it's now grey warm and drizzly so could delay them again.

Very little noise in the Snowdon forest yet. Stags still mobbed up. Hopefully they burst into life this weekend.
