Ex West Coast culler, old enough that he's got many roars under his belt.
    Definitely had me going

Kaimais have been roaring since the weekend. Only from 0630-0930 then it gets too hot. Anything over 15 degrees and they’re quiet.
Cornflakes under foot doesn’t help at all. Would post a video of some roaring but can’t on here

Another buck out checking this morning at just on daybreak, bit aggressive with the girls so they raced off into the bush.

Drizzly rain at 01:00 up by mt hutt this morning and still 12 degrees. Not surprised they aren't going nuts, too warm for vigorous exercise.

Heard one stag let out a couple of quiet moans at dawn yesterday just north of Haast. Only one heard in 4 days. Saw a reasonable number holding hinds, just weren’t making any noise yet.

Same again yesterday (Wednesday) @ Lake Paringa. Couple half-hearted single moans. Still too warm I guess. Rained out now anyway.

Belt of warm rain for the next few days in the Kaimais. Went out for a morning hunt and they aren’t liking the heat. Few moans but nothing like a week ago. I’d say mid next week they’ll be humming!
