No RODSTA I am the odd one out. I have never owned a 308 but read nothing into that as it is the greatest calibre ever created. Just ask VC.

    I don't have a Tikka and I don't have a 7-08. Does that make me a regular Kiwi?

I've got one and my next rifle will be another one, they are great.

Look around though, as most gun stores seem to be doing deals on them.
Hunting and fishing had a really good deal the middle of this year.
Make sure what ever deal you get has a decent scope with it, Burris seems to be common and a very good low end scope.

I'd go to the local HnF and see what they can do, don't be afraid to haggle.

I have 4 of them, they shoot better than me. Have 2 of them fitted with Bell & Carlson stocks.

Get a tikka. I've got 2, 223 for varmints and 243 for deer.

Cant beat them for entry level simplicity.

My advice would be ONLY get a package desk if its got a decent scope on it.

You're going to end up buying a good scope anyway, so may as well spend the $$ up front rather than having to replace something crap.

The other thing I would say is try and test fire to chose your calibre.

If you're ever in Wellington you're welcome to come to mine and put some rounds thru either of mine
