Just Acquired a "new" rifle, she is a little over 50yrs old and so is the scope (and sling!)
Sako L61r .270 with a B.Nickel 4x81 scope. Wood and blued (obviously) with a really nice heft to it, about 4kg with scope (when did we all suddenly become so weak we couldn't carry a solid rifle?) Original Bofors barrel, throat very good, virtually no wear in the bore and amazingly almost nil corrosion.
Gave it a clean bore sighted it and went down the range with loads from my other .270 that measured a 60thou jump in this rifle, held my breath and asked it the question.........
Rather happy with the result, the scope is shit for shooting paper, utterly horrible reticule, couldn't tell exactly where on the red bit it was holding, but 50 years ago it was a high tec bit of kit!, decent field of view and would be great at acquiring and holding moving four legged targets, undecided weather I should put optilocks and a good scope on it so it can punch paper really well, or keep it period, sometimes old girls are the best!
Anybody got some optis?
