You have to love the land where you shop at a gunshop with a shopping trolley.
I only half filled mine before my debit card hemorrhaged, my credit card cried and i felt dizzy.
    Great photos

They are amazing alright. I lived in Missouri for 3 years and often went to Basspro in Springfield. I agree that Cabelas is better - the St Louis one was superb. 10% military discount for me there too.

Lots of pretty crappy stuff and own brand rubbish in Basspro, so huge as they are, much of it isn’t great. I guess the gun and ammo sections are now sold out as Americans panic buy because zombies, government coming to get me, Chinese, etc. Even after 3 years I never got used to how weird mid-west Americans can be.

I work out of state in a rural area and sometimes if I need a break I drive about an hour away to a city which has a Cabelas for relaxation. They have big comfy chairs in front of a fireplace in the front and I usually take a nap for a while, then get a cart and meander all over the store like a drunken sailor with a shopping cart, always ending up in the reloading section looking for the odd thing I do not have. A lot of their stuff is priced high retail but they always have something on sale and they always have discounted 9mm ammo of some brand, at $8.99 plus 20% off with E-gift card you can't lose.

The FBI processed 3.7 million background checks last month, add in other states like Pennsylvania that have their own system and probably over 4 million guns were sold last month.

They are impressive alright. I worked at the Bass Pro in Calgary, Alberta, Canada all of 2010 while living abroad. Was amazing the number of people that came through some days (7-10k on weekend days).

I was a shift manager/lead in the hunting department and it wouldn't be unusual to sell 75-100 firearms a day during good sales. There would be 5-10 pellets of gear on the floor each morning to restock the shelves after the day previous (just for hunting, shooting, reloading kit, not even hunting clothing). Next level compared to NZ.

Agree that Cabelas was better for hunting and shooting gear.

Awesome stores for sure. I’ve been to some of the smaller ones in Anchorage and they still blow you away with how big they are. The taxidermy is really impressive too.

When Obama took office for the first time he was single handedly the best for promoting the buying of guns/ammo as the US went nuts and companies were pumping out as much as they could to keep up with their domestic demand it was hard for them to keep up with international demand... walking into Serious Shooters or Reloader Supplies and seeing their shelves half empty was a result of that.

I wonder what the ripple effect of this covid will cause in the states with gun/ammo sales and the effect it will have with supplies reaching our shores.

Agreed that we have it pretty good here. In the UK where there are about 2 million shotgun and firearm licence holders, the gun shops are almost all pokey little, cramped shit boxes with almost no stock. The better ones almost all cater for shooting clothing and there’s not much in terms of reloading. Reloading Solutions are a good crew but their shop is about 40 square metres in size.
