Thanks On2it. Sobering to watch and something I try to be aware of. The one thing that really stuck in my head when I first read the Arms Code was to think, "Is this a person?" (or something there abouts) to get your mind off the target species and get your mind off seeing what you want to be seeing.

GM is right - asking yourselves "is this a person?" is powerful psychology.

I've been out with mates and their dogs - have spotted a very dog-like head, and held off the shot. Truthfully, I was actually looking at a big, black hind, not my mate's lurcher - but I feel good about the fact I made the wise, certain decision.

You can't guess - and you can't shoot by feel either.

Anything that spreads the safety standards we all hold to has to be good.

I appreciate we sometimes see disagreement in the forum over how that safety message is communicated. But we all learn differently, so the more means we use to get that safety message out there has to be good (refer VAK learning model etc).

    What about yelling

"dodzy" just before a super close range shot?

Would the deer bolt, or jump, look, then bolt?

There is absolute truth in this statement SiB. Some can learn by being told, some can learn by being shown, and some can only learn by doing the doing of it.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

And unfortunately some of us just don't learn and keep making the same mistakes. Three girls!

    You're welcom veitnamcam.

I'm still stunned by Gabrielle Molloy's capacity for compassion and forgiveness towards Henry Worsp. And her bravery to put her emotions and pain on national TV for the greater good. She's an inspiring human being and just so cool.
