The photo doesn't do the brightness of this thing justice.

In low light a mate was unable to find us. I heard him fire a shot about 800m away so I turned my back to where he was and he had a beacon to walk to. Real men can wear any colour they damn well want!

I thought deer mainly saw in blues and greens, so wouldn't blaze blue stick out to the deer on the backdrop of the green forestry?

Deer certainly dont see the red end of the spectrum but they can see blues , the US wildlife people did research on colours that people could see and deer couldn't , Blaze orange came out as the best compromise , it was the brightest colour deer couldn't see. The lime-yellow blaze now being used by Cops and truckies etc is a better one for us humans but deer can see it too .

Blue is a good colour to protect you from hunters because up to 10% of males are red/green colour blind , they see blaze as a brownish colour . They can see blue perfectly , one of my hunting mates is red /green colour blind and he hands out blue ribbons to those he hunts with to tie on their gear and hats as he can see it clearly .
A completely colour blind mate can see ordinary camo from k's away it stands out as a well defined shape .

Birds including waterfowl have excellent colour vision and are smarter than deer (and some duck shooters) so good camo is needed there with no blaze
    .
What ever colour you wear it won't make you bullet proof . The best thing is just move slowly , deliberatly and quietly because it is movement that will give you away to a deer before colour will

Deer see blue and so do WASPS! This is a real issue in Nelson bush!

Il stick to my black pants and green top, neither are deer color . if someone is shooting at movement or sound it wont matter what color your wearing.

I think the more hunters who wear blaze the better. I know that if I see even the smallest lick of orange click straight away that its a hunter, its automatic, without even thinking. Any movement should be thought to be a hunter until you prove its game, but I can't be sure that the hunter I meet out there is thinking that way. I feel a bit safer in blaze just because it makes that process of proving what the movement is (or is not) much quicker and easier for my fellow hunter, who, heaven forbid, could be a trigger-happy stag-fevered cowboy - I think even that sort knows what seeing blaze out there means.

I was going to discuss the colour vision thing.
I'm R/G blind according to the ishihara test, and other tests.
I recall reading that a Red deficiency is VERY common in males, as opposed to a R/G which is the 'traditional' male deficiency at around 10% as prior mentioned.
The extent of it is different between individuals but in 'severe' cases you could say, like myself, colour confusion is obvious some times, especially with olive green and some reds. They become brown
    Different light makes a difference.
I can swear black and blue something is choc brown even though the tag says olive but under a certain fluro light I can see it as a no questions olive.

Colour is any issue. I'm not aware of pink being an issue with colour vision and thus will push it as 'the' color for safety

How about some pink NZHS for the boys ?
