Mine got shorter and shorter when ya cut some off the bottom for shit house paper if ya run out
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt !!
Off-topic drift here: I always carry a 'handy-pak' of paper tissues. Very dignified and they don't mind being squashed (before use) in your pack.
Back on topic: Blue. I admit I'm still struggling with the blue blaze thing. Mine's orange.
I've never seen actual peer-reviewed and scientifically published papers which PROVE orange or blue blaze are not conspicuous to deer. There's lots of media hype with words like 'tested' and 'research shows' - but I've never seen a reference or recognised academic publication cited.
I use leafs normally. Nothing like waking up in the morning going for a dump and wiping ya ass with a frosty cold leaf.
VIVA LA HOWA
I got stuck once and only had fern nearby. Bit raspy to say the least!!
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
and before someone interprets the above as anti-blaze - I'm totally in favour of wearing blaze simply because we do know humans can see it better than our camo. Hunters or campers (with blaze or not) are shot by other humans with a rifle. I've yet to see a deer armed with a rifle. . . . . . .
Whitetail Deer Hunting- Deer Vision
I have no ideer (see what I did there) whether this is peer reviewed or whatever, but it does make interesting reading.
Mmmm im sure it pretty much says blue is going to stick out like dogs balls to a deer....
"One cone type is most sensitive to short wavelength (blue)"
"However, a number of other mammals have color vision that is based on only two different cone types; this is dichromatic (two-color) vision. This simplified type of color vision seems to be common among mammals and has been observed in carnivores (e.g. dogs and cats) and ungulates (hoofed mammals). "
"To an animal with dichromatic color vision, a sportsman wearing garments that strongly reflect short wavelength light would stand out against these backgrounds like a ripe red tomato on a green vine."

I think the key to blaze be it orange, blue or whatever is to have a vibrant colour. If it starts to fade off, then replace with a new one
