Thread: Bore sight Lazer way off when rifle is zeroed

I to find the lasers pretty hopeless. In both the gun shops I've worked in we've used a collimator and had pretty good results.

At home I typically just look down the bore and line it up with something. If it's a 6.5mm or bigger I'll often get an empty case and push the primer out then look through the flash hole.

As @199p said, just give it to a shark that needs a fricken lazer beam. That way at least the shark will be happy, cause tha'ts all those things are good for: scary stuff in the movies

I have a Leupold one.
It's not accurate, as in if I dial on to the zero, the rifle will be way off. But if I put it on a sighted rifle and remember where the crosshair sits on the grid, and use that reference on another rifle it gets me on the paper. It's handy for checking your zero without firing a shot if you can remember the reference point.
Bearing mind different loads often shoot to different points in the same rifle, never take anyone's word that boresiters are the bees knees.

bit hard on the longue furniture all the same...

The bore mounted lasers are shit. Only laser I still have is the type that is mounted in a pseudo cartridge and shines through the length of the bore. Barely bother with them now though because by the time I faff about and find it I would have finished using the eyeometer

My process is similar to most, set the gun up stable with a bipod and rear bag, I use a un primed case in the action it gives your eye a better center than looking down the bore and a red bucket at 100 yards get you on the paper every time.
