Are you suggesting we use politicians instead of lemons for sighting in ?
Or maybe feed them to the laser equipped sharks ?

I used the method promoted by who tee who on Youtube for my take down rifle since it is hard to bore sight a rifle that has no bolt.

At 10 yards set up a target.

Measure from centre of barrel to centre of scope.

Mark 2 points on the target using above measurement.

Aim at top mark, shoot you should hit pretty close to bottom mark.

Adjust scope as needed to hit bottom mark.

Move target to 100m aim at centre point. Fire!

Adjust scope as needed but you should be near enough there.
    Happy Jack.

I would argue its just as easy if not EASIER to do it with a break open rifle. that black n decker workmate comes in real handy to do it..... with rifle broken open you have access to look through bore and still look through scope......
    75/15/10 black powder matters

Yes it would be, I don't have a workmate though and was trying to make an existing stand I had made for a bolt rifle to work.

cardboard box with notch at both ends to cradle rifle works...LOL
so does a G or sash cramp with a little forethought.

The old wooden nail box from years back notched was perfect as well.
