The article on Three news was good. They certainly got their point across.

It was great turn out from a large group of hunters passionate about our Tahr and hunting interests.
A few hundred vehicles and over a thousand people. Fantastic turn out and hopefully noticed by the nation.
A cold hoar frost around the Mackenzie basin gave way to a beautiful sight of blue skies and sunshine to show off mt Cook national park and all its glory.
Speeches from the members of the Tahr foundation, including Willie Duley and Snow Hewitson, were listened to by a concerned audience and appreciation displayed for what was being spoken.
Full credit to the organisation of this event and the hard work from the Tahr foundation.
Save our Tahr. They belong in the southern alps.

Statement by reporter on the tv3 report.
...DOC say it is crucial the work is done now before a new generation of Tahr are born....
But they are shooting Bulls in the NPs? So the females that are currently pregnant carrying the next generation? Maybe I no understand

Sounds as if the message got out there, well done to all those who attended. Lets hope some good and rational thinking comes from it, but knowing DOC etc that's not in their way of doing things.

Yes the Sage lady has already stated '' we do not care''. and she has the Governments backing.
The majority of the public really don't care, that in it's self is a huge hurdle.
Well done to all those involved.

Can't help but wonder if we aren't be sold a big dummy right now?

We are focused on the recently announced aspiration to target all Tahr all in Nat Parks, and will probably be told that DoC will continue to target only nanny's in other areas. So while there may be plenty of bulls to hunt outside Nat Parks for a while, if they continue to nail the breeding stock there may be a prospect we face a population collapse a few years down the track? We know from past experience that the helicopters actually can snot the Tahr population ( from a hunting perspective) if they try hard enough............... is that perhaps the real issue?

DoC continue to claim "there will still be 000's of Tahr for hunters..."

And read some of the ignorant comments, just wow, what sort of life it must be to live absolutely hating a group of people that much.

It is simple, the govt doesnt care, and people dont care, they hate hunters.

They are happy to wipe out a whole population of animals just because they hate hunters.

It was a great day to be a part of and I'm extremely proud of everyone who attended. Everyone behaved fantastically and no one can claim that it was just a bunch of hillbillies crying over wooly goats.
