    Been a few farms sold around gisborne. They put a manager on it and still run it as a farm but use it as a hunting block ( boundry doc land etc) Also i know of a few forestry blocks that are put under management and only owners are allowed to hunt it.

    Yep bigbear is onto it, it has to be viable to pay for itself. Aorangi forest was in trademe for ages, world class hunting around those parts...

    I know a someone who bought one in the Ruahines, 10 acres or so that back onto DOC land and he's put a couple of shipping conainers and a lean to on it. No road frontage but right of access through a large farm. Perfect.

    He QE2'd it so he doesn't have to pay rates.
