Can you identify this place - Stewart Island

Attached is a slide taken by my Dad in I guess the 1960s, all I know is that it is on Stewart Island, but I would like to pin down where the hut is if anyone recognises it. Must have been a successful hunting trip, a large skin drying on the wire and the cropped close up I have done shows a head on the grass in front.

Left-hand skin and head look like a red, other skins might be whitetail.

Can’t be too many areas that were in pasture on Stewart Island, but some may be covered in scrub nowadays.

    Somewhere up Freshwater river

Great image and it has a story to tell
Someone will place it better from the shape of the distant ridge

Could be somehere around the Hapuatuna point, or over in Masons bay........only guessing really.
The ridge in the background will be a good landmark

    Mt Anglem
Which might put your image up Freshwater

Remember mountain is a relative term down there
As soon as they poke up a bit they get weathered back down fast

@akaroa1 I think you'll find that it os pryses peak that isn't misty and mt rakeahua in the background.... my guess is either tolson river at the start of freshwater or rakiahua landing, vegetation makes me think river rather than coastal.
@ghosts may shed some light on it.

As above, it'll likely be up the Freshwater.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

I agree with you on the second photo, Mt Anglem is in a totally different direction from that viewpoint.
