    Carbon stock peeling / sticky

    Sorry i Know this has been done here but cant find it. Whats the best way to remove the sticky shit off a carbonlite stock ? Do I need to recoat it with anything ?

    It will come off with time and use. Most of us are interesting in getting it recoated back on, which one of the guys has gotten done on the forum. Mine is slick now after a few years use.

    This is Murfs video. He did an xbolt for me. Turned out great.

    The video looks like a plastic not carbon stock though so unsure about the resin...

    Edit: He is tipping it over his own carbon stock next to it so SCA General Purpose thinner should do the trick

    did someone mention steel wool and Isopropyl ?

    Send it to Murffs in Nelson he did mine and recoated it with another rubber kind of finish seems to be holding up ok.
    He did say he uses a thinner from super cheap to remove the old coating.

    That should work. I’d use a scotchbrite synthetic ahead of steel wool. Should be able to get it in the paint section of a Bunnings/M10
    Just test on a small part of your stock first.

    Have just had to take the tack off my xBolt stock, just used straight acetone and 0000 steel wool, was a ten minute job at best and has come up a treat. Hasnt effected anything colour wise etc
    Shouldnt really be any different on a carbon stock.
