We were in There a few years back during the roar. Had a nightmare trip.

Doc decided they'd do wilding pines so had a Hughes 500 and chainsaws going.
Then the the army also had shenanigans with artillery and rockets and hueys belting around over the boundary.
Not many deer living on the block even before this started up. Only had one stag roaring. A couple over on army land. Brave man who poaches there.
We ended up travelling up the ridge in the the doc land. I shot a sika stag after he'd had a scrap with a red and a mate shot a red stag on the next ridge.
The actually block has very little bush and bugger all feed.

If thermals were allowed then it might give one the jump on something in the morning early.
Actually I think when they split that block the other block has the easy access to the doc land.

    Oh it got worse.

HS had given it nice new water tanks made from the classic blue drums. Now I'm guessing they git them from a dairy farm or something because they were impregnated with some sort of evil chemical.
We had a curry and because old aunty had made such and effort, no one was saying anything, but there was a terrible chemical taste in it. Eventually he said," does this taste odd to you guys? ". At which point we all spat our mouthfuls out and first into fits of laughter. It was terrible.
Then as we're standing there it melted through the bottom of Mike's plate and dropped a huge pile of curry and rice across the middle of the hut floor.

Also when we headed for doc land to get some hunting, we pre packed sammys etc and some meals but put it in Mike's pack. The when we got to roaring he went one way with a meet up planed later. Then mate and I heard the red and sika scrap and went to a new ridge where we smoked that stag over. As dark fell we were too far to link up so had to use suet to cook bit of fresh heart etc in a jet boil.
Seemed like nothing could go right. There's also a story about the army guys across the boundary that can't be told here.

I'm fairly sure Cathedral hut got removed a year or so ago. New leaseholders (Helisika) did it I am led to believe.

Also can confirm that that country was always fairly lean. The vegetation always looked malnourished.

Does this block back onto the Southern access route? (nestled between the private + army land)

Only on one side now I believe. They split in two. The other block (starts with p. Can't remember name) has the track along two sides along the army boundary. Quite a cool hunters camp up on the doc land edge. Some nice heads hanging in the trees there

Bloody hell, Helisika are expensive now. Looks like most of the huts are $75 p/p a night. A lot of their blocks get hammered too. Haven’t flown in with them for quite a few years, now I remember why. Better hunting on public land IMO.

Yep every body thinks private blocks get less pressure.
