Cliff and 2 Pac hit the tops

Our annual roar trip to the Ruahine tops was this week accompanied buy Ar Dave and Kiwi James sure was good to get off farm for a couple of days.
Was interesting to see that both my mates despite walking to a campsite had 2 packs each...
Day one started out rather quiet and after a massive drop of 1080 I was starting to think maybe it does kill deer... after a few hours glassing and roaring the only animals we had seen where a couple of hinds and fawns.
I decided to curl up in the tusssock and catch some sleep while the boys did there thing, sleep was intrupted buy James dog falling of cliff, which buggered up that gully and James for the rest of that day.
The cloud rolled in around 6 and visibility all dissapired.
Day 2 the boys kicked of early and both came back around lunch no luck,
Cloud was rolling in and forecast had gone to poo rang old mate in the chopper no chance so we walked out through the 1080 drop zone no expecting much to be honest.
We basically had stags roaring all the way out with Dave managing to smack one over,
Pic 3 has James fishing for the dog, a lot steeper than it looks
We got out to the truck around 930.
    Cheers boys
Stay safe out there this roar lads.

Cool report with some cool photos. Love the glassing photo on the saddle.
    That pack looks way overloaded!

Drop was near 6 months ago but Cooper was muzzled near 24/7 regardless. Poor bastard shat himself after the fall and was like velcro after. Few superficial wounds but not enough to hold him down for any length of time.

Good report you can't white wash an area just because 1080 has been there as some people think. That was one lucky dog could have been a lot worse.
