Strange deer normally hate the smell of sheep.
flying along boundarys in the 500 one could see from quite some way off the little black marks in paddock where deer had jumped fence and landed digging front hooves in - but even better wet grass the tracks stood out clear as - deer in the paddock somewhere - had to look though at times they were several paddocks out into farm
Would the scope be some Chinese brand?
When hunting think safety first
I haven't shot an easy fallow in awhile. Hopefully Dad shoots one this evening while he's out. I should have gone with him..
Bushnell?
Looks like an older scope with those big turrets.

SWFA.
tell us about it.
Also im intrigued at the amount of tape. I know you do it for a purpose, what is that?
Its the MOA version of this https://www.swfa.com/swfa-3-15x42-ss...pe-107011.html
They are pretty much bomb proof. The Yanks call them the poor mans Nightforce. I used it for a while and then Craig had it on his 300RUM, and now it's back with me. Only criticism is that it doesn't have a zero stop - but the clicks are very firm.
They say they don't export but if you contact them directly they will take an order (or they did a few years ago when I got this one).
The tape is holding protective bike tubing in place.

Here's a video of reds going over a fence like this. It's a bit long so just flick through it. The crossing point is always the same place, you can see it from miles away, especially in late spring. Just an earthen patch on both sides of a wonky bit of fence, and clear deer trails leading to it. There's two crossing points, both have heaps of belly fur on the barbed top wire and in the surrounding grass.
The young animals are schooled in how to get across by the older hinds. You'll see the young ones working it out towards the end. They're dumb as animals though - we've shot dozens of nice fat meat hinds out of this paddock, often on consecutive evenings. Whilst they teach each other how to cross the fence, they don't teach each other than death lies on the other side.
(The far side of the fence is off limits.)
