    deer within 20 minutes of invercargill if you know where to look, but I cant give away all of the secrets. No shortage of places between cattle flat, monowai, dean forest, kiwiburn, just to name a few

    @Micky Duck I'm trying to slow down but you know how it is, you get tired, lapse of concentration, tangled up in some f... bush lawyer you hadn't noticed right on the edge of the clearing $#@!%...

    Oh well as you say it's not all about the harvesting bit and yes they are there.

    that lapse on concentration is why when Im solo,at first stumble it s time for a stop,sit and rest for minute or two
    had awesome morning bush ninjaing around with RUMPY today...we didnt find animals but had great walk all the same,close encounter with wood pigeon was good..having bellbird sitting 1mtr above us singing wee heart out as we had hot cuppa on sunlit ridge deep in the bush was pure magic for the soul.

    The stags are out in the open my friend Micky, feeding up before the winter, at least that's what those experts say. But what do I know.

    Learned to bush hunt a couple of years ago and slow is the way to go. Frustrating for a while definitely, but rewarding when you crack it. Only 4 things you need to worry about wind, wind, wind and being quiet.
