Iv been chased a few times using bailers but that’s half the fun , however one of the more memorable moments was me running for my life in my gummies & shorts with a large saddle back sow chasing me mouth wide open , mine was to with one word coming out faaaaaark bloody thing nearly got me , I got the last laugh though half an hour later I shot it .

Bringing it out this morning. Been a keen pig hunter with dogs a very large part of my life. Been stalked once and charged and attacked on a number of occasions. Miss the actions of dogs , but I still have Jaz who will find and bail. She's a GWF, if I had her last night I would of been on to the pig sooner, but I was really just going to check stock . Still Lambing so I don't like dogs around the sheep.

He looks like an escaped children's pet, even looks like he was recently brushed. Maybe he just wanted a scratch behind the ears ??
Is he a 'Canterbury Blue' AKA introduced from Pakistan ??

The boys always told me they were ‘Russian’ ?? I actually don’t know but that’s all we caught around Ashley and up past Hanmer. Caught a black one one up Mt Thomas one day though.

Bloody good effort ! .My Dad and Uncle took me deer-stalking when I was about 9. A boar about the same weight, but much taller, walked out of the bush about 20m from us, everyone was gob-smacked for about a second, then it disappeared as fast as it came , and not a shot was fired. For years I thought all wild pigs must be that size.

girth taping pigs its quite accurate within 10% for small under 80 lbs and 5% for biguns. Yours classifies as bigunn!
Heart girth in cm squared times length in cm divided by 8700 gives weight in pounds. Most pig hunters understand pounds not those new fangled kilo thingies
