I dunno. Every time you remember something apparently the memory degrades.

That will be a great experience guiding, if I was a bit younger that would be an ace job. My moose hunt in 2002 cost me $ 6900 US with an exchange rate of .42 cents US for our dollar so it was costly, then there was the hunting licence at $ 500 US , cleaning the skull and head skin and crating was another $500 US and then to ship it home another $900 US. It is costly but it was a trip of a lifetime ...love to do it again.

R93 you are about right at $20,000 for a moose these days but the exchange rate is better today , that was the killer for me but once you are booked you just have to suck it up. Alaska /Yukon moose are the largest but Northern BC still get a few big ones drifting down from the north.

There must still be Moose around Rotorua, but its a fairly well kept secret. I saw one once , it had pushed its way into the hallway at this golf club.........

I am lucky I am a citizen cost wise but I still need a guide as a non resident. But I am sure there will one available amongst the crew I am working with.

If I get one, it will cost enough just to get the head back and mounted.
I think I will get it mounted in NZ. My mates one was done here and it is a stunning mount.
I also would like to do a whitetail but will head east for that after the BC hunting season.

Yeah I planned to go there but met a young fella recently from Alberta guiding here in NZ. He has offered to get me onto a good buck where he lives. He has some impressive heads for a young fella.

Bit of pheasant shooting as well

If I ever see one in NZ ill shoot it post it all over internet too and eat it, Why not? Was an introduced species here to hunt was it not? Just like a deer they are here for us to shoot and eat and hang their heads on the wall.

Yes. 3 species of bat, 7 species of seal / sea lion, and dozens of species of whales and dolphins. Not much meat on a bat, and hunting the other ones is generally frowned upon these days.

We actually have 3 native mammals.

You're attitude would do well in forest and bird.

Our game animals may have been introduced but they are a huge part of our heritage and identity. I doubt we would have firearms for citizens to enjoy in this country if it wasn't for introduced animals.

Have a think about that for a minute.
