My Moose hunt was a horse back hunt, had to ride about 4 hours to Moose camp, when I got off horse I couldn't walk. We hunted on foot from camp but when I shot my Bull we took the horses right to the kill site. Sure makes it easier to get your meat out, which is mandatory and must come out before the trophy. R93 you are correct about rigging the moose antlers onto the horses it must not slip as this will cause the horse to panic and my guide said if that happens you will never get another set of antlers on the horse.
It was amazing to see how my guide did it and the four hour trip back to the airstrip was problem free the antlers never moved a bit despite getting bashed by trees and scrub.
The guides certainly know there business alright.
